Our history

From the SSDB “Yakhta” to Smallcraft

It all began with the student design bureau "Yakhta", founded by enthusiasts from the teaching staff of the Mykolaiv Shipbuilding Institute in the late 1960s.

The drive to create the bureau came from a desire to bring our own scientific concepts and skills into the design of small vessels.

Later came the design group "ALA" — over 25 years of designing and supporting vessels, more than 100 completed projects.

In 2024 DB Smallcraft was founded as the successor to these traditions. A new name, but an engineering school shaped over decades.

From concept to completed vessel

Consultation

For those who have not yet chosen a solution, we offer a no-obligation discussion of the task. We help define the technical brief and determine what can realistically be achieved within the available budget.

Concept design

We develop the technical brief based on your ideas and proceed with the design. This includes hull form development, material selection and layout planning.

Technical documentation

A complete set of working design documentation: lines plan, stability and strength calculations, general arrangement, 3D model, procurement list and other required documents.

Construction

We deliver projects through a reliable and proven production facility. This ensures full quality control at every stage and direct communication between the design team and production.

Certification

Preparation of documentation in accordance with the requirements of classification societies, followed by classification and the issuance of the relevant certificate.
